The Touch of a Hand
Next month, it will be 16 years since I have lost a brother to AIDS. It was a very painful time in mine and my family’s life.
This was a time where there was so much we did not know about AIDS; for example, how AIDS can be (or cannot be) transmitted to others. We, not only us but society in general, have learned tremendously since then.
Yes, there are regrets that I have. I did not show the compassion to him like I should of. I did not pray for him as much as I should. And lastly, I did not physically touch him like I should have. That caused pain to him. In a way, it made him feel like a leper.
This video (titled “Captivity -Part1), shot in Swaziland, shows what I missed out on and gave me an example of how the non-judgmental love of Christ is to be practiced with those suffering with AIDS; including, the touch of a hand. It brought me to tears.
Sidenote: I wish I could just embed Vimeo videos into WordPress to make it more easier for you … or maybe I just don’t know how to embed Vimeo videos (other than a link). If you know how, please let me know.
